Following last week’s Alaska Airlines’
mid-air blowout incident, airplane exit doors continue to make headlines – and the latest story is set at Toronto Pearson airport (YYZ).
Except this time, it wasn’t a manufacturing error that caused a door of an aircraft to suddenly open. It was a passenger.
A traveller is suffering injuries this week after opening the cabin door of an Air Canada plane and falling out onto Toronto Pearson’s tarmac on Monday evening (Jan. 8), delaying a flight that was heading to Dubai by nearly six hours.
According to reports, the passenger boarded the aircraft, a Boeing 777, normally.
But instead of walking to their seat, they instead opened a cabin door at the opposite end of the plane.
“The passenger sustained injuries falling to the tarmac with emergency services and the authorities attending,” an Air Canada spokesperson told CityNews.
The passenger’s motive, and the type of injuries they sustained, isn’t clear….
