An American Airlines plane nearly collided with an Air Canada Rouge flight on the runway of Sarasota Bradenton International Airport on February 16, 2021. The NTSB held a safety summit Wednesday to explore the issue with industry representatives, union and aviation experts. NTSB chairwoman Jennifer Homendy has called for greater training and re-training of aviation industry workers in the wake of the pandemic-induced layoffs and retirements.
