Air Canada has been accused of discrimination and racism after refusing Amnesty International Canada’s English-speaking Secretary General, Ketty Nivyabandi, permission to board a flight from Ottawa to Mexico City despite the fact that she met all the legal requirements necessary to travel to Mexico. The incident occurred on 30 March and Amnesty International have called for a public apology from the airline and reparation for the incident. Ketty Nivyabandi is a permanent resident of Canada and the only legal requirements to enter Mexico are holding a refugee passport and being a resident of Canada.
