American Airlines and its partners raised over $1.1 million for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at the annual Celebrity Ski event at Beaver Creek, Colorado. The airline has raised over $45 million for the Foundation through the event over 38 years. Over 400 people attended this year’s event, including Olympic athletes and celebrities from the sports and entertainment industries. Funds raised will help the foundation’s research initiatives to fight cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder affecting the lungs and other organs. American also made a $25,000 donation on behalf of Chief Customer Officer Alison Taylor, who is due to retire soon. The CF Foundation presented American’s former executive Elise Eberwein with the Jena Award, which recognises volunteers who support the foundation’s mission.
