A flight attendant on a British Airways flight collapsed and died in front of stunned passengers on a plane in London.
It reportedly happened on New Year’s Eve as Flight 31 prepared to leave London’s Heathrow Airport on a 12 1/2-hour international flight to Hong Kong.
The plane doors were already shut, and the plane was prepared for pushback when the 52-year-old flight attendant suddenly collapsed near the back galley, the Irish Sun reported.
Passengers and crew reportedly rushed to save the flight attendance, but it was of no use.
The airline later announced the flight would be canceled due to a “medical emergency.”
In a statement to The Messenger, the airline said: “Our thoughts are with our colleagues’ friends and family at this incredibly sad time.”
It is reportedly the second death of a British Airways flight attendant in less than a month.
The airline canceled a Newark to Heathrow flight after a flight attendant was found dead in his hotel room after not showing up at the airport, the Daily Mail reports.
An official cause of death for both crew members has not been made public.
