We did a quick search through Delta’s website and found that an economy roundtrip departing on Saturday, Jan 6th (two days before the game) and returning on Tuesday, Jan 9th is priced at $2,397, rising to $2,497 if departing on the Sunday. However, if you’re willing to stay a bit longer in Houston, departing from Wednesday (Jan 3rd)-Friday (Jan 5th) and leaving the following Wednesday (Jan 10th) will set you back just over $600, dropping to around $360 if you fly back on Thursday (Jan 11th).

Seattle-Houston additions
The Wolverines’ opponent next week will be Washington Huskies, who defeated Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl on January 1st. They represent the University of Washington located in Seattle. As such, Delta has launched new flights from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport:
Flight Number | Origin | Destination | Date | Day of Week | Aircraft | Departure Time (local) | Arrival Time (local) |
DL 8818 | SEA | IAH | 7 Jan | Sun | 737-800 | 9:00 | 15:10 |
DL 8818 | IAH | SEA | 9 Jan | Tue | 737-800 | 12:00 | 14:55 |
According to Delta, there is limited availability on its SEA-IAH flights due to high demand, so book your tickets quickly if you plan on going. For passengers on Delta’s other flights keeping an eye on the game, you can tune in live via the airline’s live satellite TV onboard most of its fleet.
College football draws in millions of traveling fans each year, and countless more watching on TV. As such, airlines will often bolster their networks to accommodate the rise in demand. For example, United Airlines added over 120 non-stop services to its schedule between August and November last year to cater to traveling fans.
