Dubai-based giant Emirates Airlines is planning to add seven Airbus A380 routes to its schedule in July. With the removal of two routes, the airline will be left serving 16 from its Dubai home. While many airlines are not currently using their Airbus A380 aircraft, Emirates is an exception.
Sadly the Airbus A380 is currently a sporadic sight in our skies. One airline that was forced to ground all services in March 2020 has come back with force. According to schedule data from aviation data experts Cirium, Emirates is expected to operate 530 rotations with the Airbus A380 from Dubai next month.
Seven more cities
It seems that the Airbus A380 is slowly growing in popularity once more. According to schedule data, seven new cities will get the aircraft in July. These cities are,
- Rome (FCO)
- Washington (IAD)
- Los Angeles (LAX)
- Madrid (MAD)
- Munich (MUC)
- Toronto (YYZ)
- Zürich (ZRH)
Zürich, Munich, and Los Angeles International are all set to get daily rotations. Meanwhile, Washington will get 18 cycles throughout the month, Madrid and Toronto will get 22 cycles each, and Rome will get 23 rotations.
Cairo and Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport are the only cities that will see double daily Airbus A380 operations next month. In total, during July, Emirates is scheduled to operate 1,055 flights with the behemoth. This equates to 520,877 seats, or 1,776,827,101 available seat miles.
Comparing this to June, we see a 62.3% increase in the number of scheduled flights. 650 flights were operated in June, meaning that 405 more are planned for next month. This means that 194,827 more seats will be available.
It’s ultimately good news for the fleet. With every A380 route added, more of the fleet will need to be brought out of long-term storage. Earlier this year, Sir Tim Clark revealed he hoped that the entire…
