Kenya Airways, the flag carrier of Kenya, is on track to end its decade-long run of losses in 2024 after narrowing its full-year loss for 2022 by 17% to $43m and a 66% surge in revenues to $900m. The increase in revenue was propelled by a 68% rise in passenger numbers to 3.7 million and a 3.5% growth in cargo to 65,000 tonnes. Kenya Airways expects to break even by the end of 2023 and turn a profit in 2024. The carrier’s hopes for a return to profit are premised on several initiatives, including debt restructuring, operating cost reduction and growth in the cargo business to contribute up to 20%.
