Nigerian technology news organization TechCabal marked its ten year anniversary this week. Founded in March 2013 by Oluwafemi Bankole, the platform has evolved from reviewing mobile phones to examining the business and human impact of technology across Africa. In other news, a Kenyan court has rejected social media giant Meta’s objections to a lawsuit brought by Kenyan content moderators, while Kenya Airways reports a loss of Ksh38.26 billion ($290m) for the financial year ended December 2022 – its tenth consecutively loss. The Kenyan government has invalidated tax breaks for betting companies not approved by parliament. Meanwhile, Nigeria’s central bank has reversed its decision to make the National Interbank Settlement System the go-between for open banking, promising to keep it “open” and to work with the NIBSS to develop an open banking registry.
