Doha: Qatar Airways, the Official Airline Partner of the Qatar Football Association (QFA), has congratulated Al Duhail on their triumphant 5-1 victory against Al Gharafa in an historic Amir Cup final on Friday night.
The airline was present at the prize distribution ceremony to honour the domestic cup champions by presenting the winners and runner-up medals in the presence of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The Amir Cup final was staged at the Khalifa International Stadium, the first venue to be completed ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Qatar Airways cabin crew graced the prize distribution ceremony, presenting the individual player awards and trophies.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, said, “The 50th Amir Cup is a landmark achievement for the Qatar Football Association and we remain committed towards harnessing the power of sport to positively impact our local communities.”
H E Al Baker added, “We commend both teams for successfully playing their way to the final. I also extend my appreciation to the Qatar Football Association for organising this year’s Amir Cup, giving us the chance to bring the fans together and providing home-grown players the platform to compete at the highest level, ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.”
Earlier this month, Qatar Airways and QFA celebrated the 50th Amir Cup final with a special student football match at Oryx International School. Students experienced the thrill of seeing the coveted trophy in person as part of the exciting event ahead of the final of the prominent national tournament.
The annual knockout competition features teams from the first and second divisions of domestic football in Qatar.
In November 2021, Qatar Airways signed a partnership extension with QFA, making it the Official Airline Sponsor of the national team — the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Champions.
