Storm Eunice sparked severe travel disruption across London and the southeast of England with winds in the excess of 100mph. Britons were gripped as they followed attempts by several pilots to successfully land their aircraft at Heathrow Airport despite the treacherous conditions. Qatar Airways’ QTR003 flight from Doha had viewers hooked after failing to land twice on runway one of the London Airport.
Big Jet TV, which routinely broadcasts from the airport, saw a surge of viewers as Britons rushed to the Internet to witness the attempts.
The Qatar Airline A380-800 made three attempts before finally being able to land at Heathrow Airport as the pilot was forced to pull away twice as he lost his fight with the wind.
Once the plane finally landed, Britons took to Twitter to share their elation at seeing the flight finally reach its destination.
User @Siddkotian wrote: “That was some landing. Kudos to the pilots of #qatarairways.”
