Indian airline Vistara has become the first in the country to use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) on a long-haul ferry flight of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner from South Carolina to Delhi. The fuel was produced using a blend of 30% SAF and 70% conventional jet fuel. The aircraft was the fourth wide-body plane to join Vistara’s fleet. The company’s CEO, Vinod Kannan, hailed the move as a “pioneering initiative” toward carbon neutrality. The International Civil Aviation Organisation has set a goal of net-zero carbon emissions from the aviation industry by 2050.
