Hungarian carrier Wizz Air is facing a surge in customer claims, with some 1,600 worth £4.27m ($5.9m) having been filed in the UK, according to Which? consumer magazine. UK passengers have claims totalling £8.74m against airlines over refunds. One passenger, Russell Quirk, had to send court bailiffs to Wizz Air’s office at London’s Luton airport to recover a refund for a family holiday which had been cancelled without warning. The airline had agreed new flights would be refunded, but left Quirk “out of pocket” seven months later. Wis Air has settled over 400 county court judgments in 2022, a spokesperson said.
