Hungarian low-cost airline, Wizz Air, has suspended flights to Moldova due to concerns about the safety of the country’s airspace. The move comes after Russian missiles aimed at Ukraine entered Moldovan airspace and amid fears Russia will try to destabilise the country, which is reeling from the war in neighbouring Ukraine. French football team, Nice, have advised fans not to travel to Moldova after an “unfavourable, to say the least,” security situation for fans. The decision has been described as “sudden and regrettable” by Moldova’s civil aviation authority. Wizz Air will lay on replacement flights from neighbouring Romania.
