Passengers on a Wizz Air flight from Athens were surprised when fire engines surrounded their aircraft upon arrival at Gatwick Airport. Upon disembarkation, it became apparent that the slide at the back of the Airbus A321 had inflated. Slides are typically used for emergency situations and stored in the door, they can be inflated in a matter of seconds to provide passengers with a quick escape. However, a spokeswoman for Wizz Air confirmed that all passengers left the plane as normal via the jet bridge and that the slide had accidentally been activated after landing. Emergency and fire services were called to inspect the aircraft, but the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remained the airline’s number one priority.
