The Malta subsidiary of Wizz Air recently received its 50th aircraft in just six months, an Airbus A321neo, via a financing arrangement made with SMBC Group. The subsidiary operates a total of 265 routes from Italy, Albania, Austria, and Romania, and has been growing rapidly since its launch in September 2022. Wizz Air Malta now operates up to 200 flights per day from 14 bases in four countries and has almost 1,500 employees. More than 80% of its fleet is comprised of new-generation aircraft. The subsidiary was launched by the Wizz Air Group to diversify its operations, provide enhanced flexibility, and increase the potential for significant network and fleet expansion.
