- Alfred Anthony Maina had not seen his mother based in the US for over two decades
- He contacted Kenya Airways, Kenya’s flag carrier, to deliver a special message to his mother, Beatrice Wanjiku
- KQ acted in the affirmative, delivering the message as well as flying the mother back home, where she encountered her son for the first time after 23 years
Kenya Airways perfectly played the intermediary role between a Kenyan man and his mum, who he had not seen for over two decades now.
Anthony Macharia had not encountered his mum, Beatrice Wanjiku, based in the US face to face for 23 years.
Through a tweet, Macharia requested the national carrier to reach out to his mother and deliver to her his message, presumably about her homecoming after the many years.
“Macharia had earlier on Twitter requested Kenya Airways for a special Captain’s message to his mum,” wrote KQ.

Reunion after two decades
The Kenya’s flag carrier acted on his request, flying back with the mother who could not hide her joy upon reuniting with her son.
“Captain Simon Musau and First Officer, Anthony Adeya decided to deliver the message in person. Happy reunion Macharia and Beatrice, enjoy and welcome home, mum!” stated KQ.
An evidently elated Macharia took to the same microblogging platform to thank KQ for acceding to his request.
“Thank you so so much for seeing through my request truly the Pride of Africa! Thank you guys,” he tweeted.
