“[The unvaccinated] will be able to work in some limited industries, they’ll be able to go to supermarkets and get essential supplies and alike, but a lot of the things we take for granted and the things we enjoy, they won’t be able to do and that’s because we want to protect them and save their lives, and we want to protect other people from their transmissibility.
“Over east, the intensive care units are filled with the unvaccinated … even though that’s a tiny proportion of the population, they are hugely over-represented.”
It comes as children under 12 became eligible for the vaccine on Monday and rapid antigen tests were approved for use in WA.
Mr McGowan urged people not to use the rapid antigen tests until COVID was present in the community, due to supply shortage concerns.
As of Monday, 93.9 per cent of the population over 12 had received one dose of the vaccine, and 86.3 per cent had received two doses.
