Kannur: Citing Covid-19 pandemic, the Indian Railways has withdrawn 38 out of 53 travel ticket concessions offered to passengers. This comes after hike on the price of platform ticket. According to the government sources, platform ticket price was hiked to curb crowding at stations. While the latest withdrawal of travel concession is aimed at discouraging people from travel.
At present, only 15 types of concessions are allowed. Among them, four come under differently-abled category while 11 come under patients’ and student category.
In patients’ category, concession upto 50 – 100 per cent is allowed. Cancer patients, kidney patients, non-infectious leprosy patients, mentally retarded persons, thalassemia major disease…
