Bay Area airports are readying for hundreds of thousands of passengers around Thanksgiving, as travelers increasingly venture out to visit family and friends for the first post-vaccine pandemic holiday season. Now as the Turkey Day rush nears, many who are flying for the first time in nearly two years are wondering if their flights will be beset by delays, airport turmoil and unmasked travelers rampaging down the aisle.
The Bay Area’s three major airports — San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose — say they are well-positioned to handle the influx of passengers.
