Young people are being questioned about their sexuality and gender identity when applying for free bus passes to ensure LGBT teenagers are not avoiding public transport due to harassment.
Free travel is being offered to all people in Scotland aged 22 and under as part of a £132 million push to encourage the use of public transport.
A short survey, sent out by local authorities to people who applied for the pass, asks over-16s if they are gay, straight or bisexual.
Respondents are also asked to provide their gender, with an option to state that they are trans or non-binary. Those who complete the questionnaire are offered the chance to win up to £250 in shopping vouchers.
