Virgin Atlantic boss demands end to “unjustified” travel rules

The boss of Virgin Atlantic has claimed there is no justification for costly travel testing for the オミクロン variant of coronavirus.

Chief executive Shai Weiss echoed calls from the travel industry to remove all testing requirements for international travellers.

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) and Airlines UK said research they commissioned into travel restrictions found domestic, not international, restrictions would be the only way to reduce the spread of オミクロン.

Pre-departure and day two PCR testing were reintroduced in late November and early December in response to the spread of オミクロン. But Mr Weiss said research has shown testing has done little to prevent the spread of オミクロン and called on the rules to change when travel restrictions are expected to be reviewed today (Wednesday).
