Meanwhile the group will open its first hotel on Leeson Street in Dublin later this year, and has also contracted an additional 91-unit site in the Dublin 1 area of the city. The properties will add to Sonder’s portfolio of two serviced apartment properties in Dublin.
Finally the firm is set to expand the existing Sonder Royal Garden Apartments in Edinburgh (located opposite the Scottish National Portrait Gallery) with an additional 11 units.
The above will expand Sonder’s UK and Ireland portfolio to 28 properties and around 900 units.
The San Francisco-based company operates serviced apartments and hotels in over 35 cities, predominantly in the US, although it also has a presence in cities including London, Dublin, Rome, Dubai, Mexico City, Toronto and Vancouver.
Last year the group announced plans to open its first Glasgow property, located in the Finnieston area of the city.
Commenting on the news Oliver Armitstead, Regional Director of Real Estate at Sonder, said:
“As a high-growth global hospitality company, we are excited to expand our unique design and tech-powered hospitality offering across the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the opening of a number of new hotels in the region.
“The modern traveller demands digital service and thoughtful design, both of which we deliver across our portfolio worldwide.
“For owners, we offer competitive partnership terms with secured income, and we remove operational responsibilities. Following Sonder’s recent public listing, we’re advancing ambitious growth plans worldwide.”
