Expedia Group has enhanced its consumer protection measures following a series of reports revealing the ease with which scammers could misuse the site. The issue came to light when travelers started arriving at a Raleigh law firm, believing it to be a hotel. Expedia Group, which owns several travel sites like VRBO, Trivago and Travelocity, managed to take down the posted listings that were causing confusion. The company vouched for their dedicated team’s efforts in checking and flagging fraudulent properties. However, the fact that numerous innocent people had lost money led to further testing of Expedia’s fraud protection. This involved an attempt to create a fraudulent listing on the company’s free site, which was carried out with little effort and a few falsely made claims.
