Dublin-based hostel booking platform, Hostelworld, has seen a recovery in bookings as Covid-19 travel restrictions eased. Net revenue for 2022 reached €69.7m ($82m), an increase of 21% from the prior year, while net bookings reached 4.8 million, compared with 1.5 million in 2021. The average booking value also increased by 23% year-on-year to €14.90, led by bed price inflation, the company said. Hostelworld reported a net operating loss of €13.6m for 2022, which was an improvement from the previous year of €33.1m. The group’s CEO, Gary Morrison, said the company had returned to 2019 levels in Europe and exceeded them in many markets in Southern Europe.
