TUI Airways has announced that it will restart its flights between London’s Gatwick International Airport and Guanacaste in Costa Rica, beginning from November 1, 2023. The flights will operate on Wednesdays with a Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft that has a capacity of 345 seats, and this service will be extended during the high season of 2024. This direct connection will be important in making Guanacaste a stronger destination and boosting tourism in the region. Currently, 15 airlines operate at Guanacaste Airport and connect the province to 23 international locations, with TUI Airways being the only airline that directly connects Guanacaste with Europe. The General Manager of CORIPORT, Guanacaste Airport’s concessionaire, said they are “working on finding more routes to new destinations”. TUI Airways stopped flying due to the pandemic but welcomed passengers back in November 2021. Between March and November of 2022, the airline will not fly due to operational costs.
