In response to the emergence of the Omicron sub-variant JN.1 in India, state governments have implemented proactive measures to contain its spread. As of January 2, 2024, India reported 636 new coronavirus cases and three COVID-19-related fatalities. Among these, Karnataka recorded two deaths, and Tamil Nadu reported one.
