Tourism industry in Nepal is recovering quickly post-Covid, with 326,528 tourist arrivals by air from January to April 2023, of which 28% were from India. The Nepal Tourism Board estimated that around 1.2 million tourist arrivals are expected this year, with new hotels and tourism-related activities being created in eastern and western Nepal. Indian tourists are driving growth, with the number of Indian tourist arrivals growing by almost 40% in April 2023 compared to last year. Nepal earned foreign currency equivalent to Rs 32.45bn or USD 247.70m from tourism in the year 2022-23, an increase of 346.5% over the previous year.
