The Qatar hospitality market’s total supply could exceed 44,000 rooms by the end of 2022, researcher ValuStrat has said in a report.
An estimated 14,150 keys are in the pipeline until 2022 and 80% of expected supply is designated under a 4- or 5-star rating, it said.
As of April 2021, Discover Qatar quoted 65 hotels (9,890 keys) have been designated for provision of quarantine.
Notable hospitality projects in the pipeline are Zulal Wellness Resort, Fairmont and Raffles Hotel, The Plaza Doha, Waldorf Astoria, JW Marriot Hotel, Majlis Grand Mercure Hotel & Apartment, Dream Doha, South & North Direction Hotels, Rosewood Doha Hotel and Hilton Garden Inn.
As per ValuStrat research, the total supply of the hospitality market at the end of first half of last year (H1, 2020) was 29,858 (22,139 hotel keys and 7,719 hotel apartments.
During the first six months of 2021, some 1,558 keys were added, ValuStrat said.
