Airbnb has revealed that bookings in Thailand on its platform more than doubled in 2022 from the year before, a trend that emphasizes the rebound in international travel to the country. Bangkok emerged as the top destination of choice for global travelers on Airbnb, becoming the most booked Thai destination ahead of Phuket, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, and Koh Samui. The resurgence in China outbound travel from the last quarter of 2022 has been instrumental to the rebound in international travelers in Thailand. As more people travel to reconnect with loved ones, group travel in Thailand on Airbnb surged over 300% YoY in 2022. The platform is also attracting guests who stay for longer. In 2022, the average length of stay on the platform in Thailand was approximately five nights, and long-term stays of over 28 days more than tripled YoY. The average length of stay on Airbnb in Thailand is expected to continue increasing as more global travelers enjoy greater flexibility in work and travel.
