Vietnam needs a national digital tourism map to support both tourists and local tourism service providers, featuring resources, destinations and service providers. The proposal for such a map has been made but has yet to be rolled out. Nguyen Quoc Ky, chairman of Vietravel Holdings, a local travel firm, said the digital tourism map would significantly increase competitiveness in Vietnam’s tourism sector whilst enabling the selling of more tours at higher prices. At a recent meeting, Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, also suggested a digital tourism map, highlighting a need for information during trips. The development of national-level digital tourism platforms will also facilitate state management and policymaking, as well as enabling enterprises to access markets and customers. Vietnam hopes to serve 110 million tourist arrivals this year, including eight million foreign visitors and 102 million domestic travelers.
