The Vietnamese government is proposing new policies relating to immigration, transit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, including a visa extension to 90 days. Many international tourists who visit the country, particularly those travelling across multiple regions or those from far-off locations, say they require a visa extension to spend more time there. The move is expected to make tourism travel easier and enjoyable, with tourists able to visit multiple regions and travel between destinations without rush or the added costs of visa extension or making multiple visa applications. The simplified visa procedure is also expected to raise Vietnam’s competitiveness in the regional race of luring visitors. Vietnam has already implemented a unilateral visa exemption policy for foreign citizens, and more new policies on the management of immigration, transit and residence are expected to help attract more international tourists and increase revenue for local travel firms.
