The Vietnamese government has proposed extending visas for foreign tourists from the current 15 days to 90 days, as part of a range of measures aimed at boosting tourism. Dat Viet Tour Company’s deputy director, Do Van Thuc, said many foreign visitors initially only intend on staying in the country for two weeks, but are open to extending their stay due to the country’s “charm”; however, obtaining a visa extension can be time-consuming and costly. Travel firms have also reportedly launched 30-day tours, which remain unpopular due to the short-stay visa policy.
