Vietnam has welcomed 2.69 million foreign tourists in the first quarter of 2018, up by 29.7 times against the same period last year, according to the General Statistics Office. Almost 90% of visitors travelled to Vietnam by air, estimates suggested, while catering services earned VND161tn ($6.85bn). Travel businesses reported earnings of approximately VND6.8tn during the quarter, double that of 2017. This year’s tourism target for the country is to serve 110 million tourists, including 8 million foreign tourists, and to rake in approximately VND650tn in revenue.
