Cu Lao Cau Island in Vietnam is a small, undeveloped island with a marine ecosystem that is a trekker’s delight and a snorkeler’s paradise. The island is only 8 km from the Vietnamese mainland and has sandy white beaches, crystal clear waters, limestone rocks of many hues and shapes, and inspiring caves to explore. While the island does not have hotels, there are tours and a couple of eateries for visitors to explore. Cu Lao Cau Island serves up myriad fresh-catch seafood, and visitors are encouraged to fish for their own food. It is important to note that Cu Lao Cau is not a year-round getaway and is only accessible via boat from three access points from Ho Chi Minh City.
