IMPRESSED with the recent festive season statistics that highlight the booming tourism sector in Durban, the City has announced and opened entries for the first Durban Tourism Awards.
According to the municipality, Durban attracted close to 200 000 visitors during the Christmas weekend in 2021.

“Now it is time to recognise excellence and innovation in the tourism industry that attracts tourists to the city, contributing to job creation and economic growth,” said the eThekwini Municipality’s spokesperson, Msawakhe Mayisela.

The award categories include service excellence, meetings and exhibitions, sustainable development and a mayor’s award as well as categories for tour operators, emerging entrepreneurs, tour guides and upcoming filmmakers.
