Multiple Delhi-bound flights by Vistara have been diverted to other cities due to low visibility caused by fog over Delhi International Airport, the airline announced on Wednesday evening.
Flight UK716 from Patna to Delhi has been diverted to Indore in Madhya Pradesh and was expected to arrive in Indore at 10:15 pm, Vistara said.
Flight UK722 from Guwahati to Delhi has also been diverted to Indore and was expected to arrive in Indore at 10:30 pm.
Another flight UK820 from Bengaluru to Delhi has been diverted to Indore and was expected to arrive in the city at 10:30 pm.
Also, flight UK890 from Hyderabad to Delhi has been diverted to Mumbai and was expected to arrive in Mumbai at 11:20 pm.
Another Vistara flight from Chennai to Delhi was also diverted to Jaipur.
The airline advised passengers to regularly check their social media handles for updates.
A thick layer of fog covered Delhi and adjoining areas on Wednesday, reducing visibility to as low as 0-50 meters in many areas. Around 110 flights were delayed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport today.
The fog also affected train and road travel and even led to vehicle pileups due to poor visibility.
According to the India Meteorological Department, ‘dense to very dense’ fog is also likely to engulf the national capital at night and early morning on Thursday and Friday.
