When low cost carrier Arajet was founded in 2021, I speculated that their operations might be based out of Punta Cana (PUJ) in the Dominican Republic, given that it is a popular tourist city.
However, they chose Santo Domingo (SDQ) instead, beginning service in 2022. Over the past two years, the carrier has taken delivery of 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, expanding its footprint across Canada, Central and South America, and parts of the Caribbean.
