Airline employees had to restrain an elderly passenger on an Air Canada flight after he attempted to open the plane’s door mid-flight while “in a state of crisis and confusion.”
The man reportedly tried to open the door while the plane was at cruising altitude en route from London’s Heathrow Airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport. Due to the plane’s altitude, he was unable to open the door but employees still intervened, according to the Toronto Star.
Air Canada told the outlet that there was “an incident involving a disruptive passenger.”
After the passenger was pulled from the door, he was restrained for the duration of the flight “as part of their flight safety protocols,” police told the Toronto Star.
“Our crews are experienced and managed the situation appropriately, allowing the flight to continue normally to its destination,” said AirCanada, according to the outlet. “As per procedures, authorities met the aircraft.”
