A man onboard an Air Canada flight had to be restrained after police say he attempted to open a plane door mid-air on a Toronto-bound Air Canada flight on the weekend.
Peel Regional Police say they were alerted about an incident onboard flight AC855 arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport from London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday after reports that a passenger tried to open the door while the plane was in flight. Peel police told the Star in a written statement that the passenger wasn’t able to open the door due to the “cruising altitude.”
Air Canada confirmed the incident in an email to the Star and described it as “an incident involving a disruptive passenger.”
The airline says the flight was “operated normally” and police say the aircraft landed safely at Pearson airport just after 3 p.m.
