The carrier will co-locate 11 daily flights at Terminal 5 for the summer schedule connecting with four US destinations
American Airlines plans to boost its presence at London Heathrow Terminal 5 this summer, co-locating up to 11 daily flights with services between Heathrow and Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami and New York JFK.
The move is part of the carrier’s Joint Business Agreement with British Airways. The move follows the recent announcement of plans for British Airways to co-locate with American Airlines at New York JFK’s Terminal 8 beginning Dec. 1 this year.
According to American, “Customers connecting on British Airways’ flights at Terminal 5 to destinations around the world will be able to take further advantage of established reciprocal benefits while enjoying unprecedented flexibility and a truly seamless connecting experience when traveling across airlines.”
In addition, eligible customers be able to access to BA’s six lounges at T5.
American notes that the change does not affect American’s flights between London and Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Raleigh-Durham, which will all continue to arrive and depart from Heathrow T3.
“We are delighted to welcome American Airlines customers and colleagues to our main home – Terminal 5 at London Heathrow,” said Neil Chernoff, BA’s director of network and alliances.
“In December we are moving to the redeveloped and expanded Terminal 8 at JFK New York which will bring a range of benefits for our customers, including a better transfer experience, enabling them to travel to more than 30 destinations across the US, Caribbean and Latin America with American Airlines,” Chernoff added.
The announcement comes as Heathrow drops its mandate for face coverings in terminals, rail stations or office buildings, beginning March 16. According to the airport, the change comes amid continued success of the vaccination program and as society learns to live with COVID-19…
