WWE announced Monday that Sharmell will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next month as part of the class of 2022.
Sharmell is the third member of a class that includes The Undertaker and Vader, and she will be enshrined April 1 following SmackDown at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Sharmell is married to WWE Hall of Famer Booker T, and she is best known for serving as Booker’s on-screen manager from 2005 to 2007.
After winning the Miss Black America pageant in 1991 and later graduating from Spelman College, Sharmell broke into the wrestling business in 1999.
In WCW, as Storm, she was part of the Nitro Girls dance group. She eventually changed her character to Paisley and had a handful of matches while also serving as a manager.
Sharmell signed with WWE in 2001 and did some training in Ohio Valley Wrestling before transitioning into a role as a backstage interviewer.
Her Hall of Fame resume was truly built in 2005, however, when she began serving as Booker’s manager and getting involved in his matches.
After Booker T won the King of the Ring tournament in 2006 and was rechristened King Booker, Sharmell started going by the name Queen Sharmell.
Clothed in elaborate dresses and a crown, Sharmell famously yelled, “All hail King Booker,” repeatedly into the microphone during Booker’s entrance. That played a huge role in garnering the desired heel heat for herself and Booker T.
With Sharmell by his side, Booker T won the World Heavyweight Championship by beating Rey Mysterio at the Great American Bash 2006.
Booker would hold the title for 126 days before dropping it to Batista at Survivor Series 2006.
Sharmell did not wrestle much in WWE, but she did have a match on the Grandest Stage of Them All, teaming with Booker in a handicap match loss to The Boogeyman at WrestleMania 22 in 2006.
When Sharmell gets inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 1, she will become only the third Black woman to receive that honor, joining 2016 inductee…
