More than 1,000 flights were canceled Tuesday as airlines continue to face disruptions from recent inclement weather and Covid-19-driven staff shortages.
Carriers had canceled more than 1,200 U.S. flights and delayed more than 1,600 by midday Tuesday, according to aviation data tracker FlightAware. Tuesday’s travel problems followed a three-day stretch in which more than 8,600 U.S. flights were canceled, or about one out of every 10 flights, according to FlightAware.
Airlines have now canceled more than 19,000 flights since Christmas Eve.
had the most disruptions of the U.S.-based airlines, canceling 321 flights by midday Tuesday, about 10% of the carrier’s schedule for the day, and delaying 424, according to FlightAware. The airline was working to return to normal operations after a winter storm upended flight plans on Monday, a spokeswoman for the company said.
JetBlue Airways Corp.
had canceled 107 flights by midday Tuesday, 11% of the carrier’s schedule for the day, and had delayed 139, according to FlightAware.
