The 16 fliers say they have been left with painful neck and spinal conditions caused by constantly looking behind them at the CCTV screen at the rear of the cockpit.
The three-camera security system allows pilots to see who wants to enter the cockpit. They were installed after the 9/11 attacks to stop terrorists from busting in, reported the Daily Mail.
British Airways has denied liability for the pilots’ injuries, stating it did not breach its duty to keep them safe from injury, as well as disputing the damages requested
But because of where the display screens are located, pilots are forced to frequently crane their necks to see.
The pilots are seeking compensation, totalling about $416,000, with their lawyers warning there could be health and safety issues if a pilot suffers an injury mid-flight due to all the neck-twisting. Capt. Jonathan Parry, 57, of Camberley, England, is spearheading the lawsuits, reported the Mail.
