Summary
- British Airways offers a double Tier Point promotion for all flights booked as part of a BA Holiday booking, now extended to June 2025.
- Elite status can be reached faster with the double Tier Point offer, especially when booking premium cabins.
- The promotion also opens up more lucrative distance-based Avios earnings when booking BA Holiday packages.
Status is earned in British Airways Executive Club using a system of Tier Points. These are awarded entirely separately from Avios and are based on the cabin, booking class, and flight distance.
As Tier Point earning is not based on revenue (as Avios earning now is), there are many opportunities to expedite earnings. One good offer currently running for UK residents is with BA Holidays bookings. When you book a qualifying flight and hotel or car package, you will earn twice the number of Tier Points. This has recently been extended to June 2025 – giving even more chances to take advantage of it.
The Double Tier Point offer
One of the interesting offers among oneworld loyalty programs is the current double Tier Point offer from British Airways. When booking a package of flights plus hotel or flights plus car hire, Executive Club members will earn twice the standard number of Tier Points. This is for stays of five nights or more and for trips from the UK.

The offer has been running since 2023 and has now been extended again to the end of June 2025. All bookings for travel completed by then are eligible.
It is worth remembering that, although this offer is promoted by British Airways Holidays, it is certainly not just for standard holiday package bookings. Flights to any British Airways destination are eligible – including European city break destinations, any destination worldwide, or even a UK domestic booking only. As long as accommodation or car hire packages are offered, then it will be valid.
Bookings do not have to be for a group either – solo traveler bookings are fine as well.

What can you book, and what are the terms?
The offer is quite simple – you earn twice the standard number of Tier Points for all sectors of any eligible booking. It is important to be aware of the terms, however, as they are quite strict when determining an eligible booking. The main conditions include:
- The package booking must be made at BA Holidays (not added to separately after making a flight booking). Choosing “Flight and Hotel” or “Flight and Car Hire” on the main booking page will ensure this.
- The booking must include at least five nights of hotel accommodation or five full days of car hire.
- The maximum trip duration is 30 days (but would not require more than five days of hotel or car booking).
- The traveler must fully use the hotel or car hire element (this is to prevent fraudulent bookings and misuse).
- Travel up to 30th June 2025 is currently eligible.
- Travel must start and finish in the UK.
- All British Airways flights and codeshares (except those operated by Aer Lingus, China Southern, or LATAM) are eligible.

Earn more Avios as well
The offer is even more interesting given the changes to Avios earnings from Executive Club. Like many loyalty programs, Executive Club has switched to revenue-based earning (for all British Airways flights plus some others).
This revenue-based earning system does not apply in certain situations. One of these is when booking a British Airways Holiday package. As the airfare and hotel or car hire are bundled together, the amount paid for flights cannot be determined. So these flights will continue to earn Avios based on the booking code and flight distance. For economy class and lower priced bookings, this Is generally more rewarding than revenue-based earning.

Reaching elite status faster
The main reason to take advantage of this offer is to expedite your elite status earning (although the extra Avios can be useful too).
As a reminder, the following number of Tier Points are needed for elite status:
- Bronze requires 300 Tier Points
- Silver requires 600 Tier Points
- Gold requires 1,500 Tier Points
The Different Tiers Of British Airways Executive Club
Executive Club has four main tier levels, which are awarded just on flight activity.
Double Tier Points can really help reach these levels much faster – especially if booking in premium cabins (Club Europe for regional flights, or World Traveler Plus and Club World for long-haul flights). On the right routes, just one business class booking could be enough to earn Silver elite status (equivalent to oneworld Sapphire).
As a couple of earning examples:
- A regional flight from Heathrow to Budapest in Euro Traveler (economy):
Sector |
Standard Tier Points one-way |
Return flight and Double bonus |
---|---|---|
LHR-BUD |
10 (in economy low booking classes) |
40 |
- A long-haul flight from Newcastle to New York (via Heathrow) in Club World (business class):

NCL-LHR |

160 |
LHR-JFK |

The situation is currently more complex (but potentially more rewarding). British Airways has announced changes to membership years and Tier Point collection periods. Up till now, every member has a membership year based on when they first joined the Executive Club. This will change to give everyone the same year – with the first standard new collection year beginning in April 2025.

Members will have a shortened year from whenever their collection years ends in 2024 or early 2025 up to 31st March 2025. The program will then add any points accrued between April 1st of this year and the end of the existing collection period to the shortened year to determine status.
British Airways explained how the process would work on its website. It gives the following example (to help clarify) for members who are set to renew in October 2024:
- Your current Tier Point Collection Year will continue as normal until October 8, 2024.
- Your next collection period will be October 9, 2024 – March 31, 2025.
- Tier Point Adjustment: we’ll add on any Tier Points you earn during April 1st – October 8, 2024, to work out your Tier status.
- Any Tier status you receive during the transition period will expire on April 30, 2026.
- The new status will be valid until April 30, 2026.
The key point for this promotion is that British Airways has confirmed that bonus Tier Points earned from this promotion will count for this. If you take advantage of the promotion before your year ends, the bonus can help to earn status in both your current membership year and the next membership year.
Some ways to maximize the offer
This is a very generous offer from the outset, but for those looking to really make the most and earn status as fast as possible, here are a few ideas:
- To maximize Tier Points, look at flights in Club Europe or any premium cabin for long-haul trips. These earn significantly more than discount economy class.
- Consider adding a UK domestic connection to the booking. This might make only a minimal difference to the price, but it will add more Tier Points. In Club Europe, a domestic return connection would add 160 Tier Points in total.
- Routes earn Tier Points based on the distance. There are some big changes here – especially in Europe. The longest European flights earn up to 80 Tier Points (so 320 Tier Points in total) – to destinations including Bucharest, Sofia, Reykjavík, Cyprus, plus all destinations in Greece, Turkey, or the Canary Islands.
- In some cases, adding a cheap hotel or car hire might make minimal difference to the flight-only price. BA Holidays flights can often access different booking inventory, opening up lower airfares.
