Air France and Delta are to operate a new “shuttle” service betweenParis Charles de Gaulle and New York JFK airports this summer.
The two airlines will operate a total of eight daily flights (six Air France flights and two Delta services) between the two airports from early June, with departures every one to two hours during the day from Paris and a “nearly” hourly service departing New York from late afternoon.
This forms part of a major restart and increase of transatlantic services for Air France during summer 2022, which be around 20 per cent higher than in 2019, following the reopening of the US to international travellers in November 2021.
Air France said its summer schedule would be around 90 per cent of its summer 2019 capacity with flights to North America, Africa, Caribbean and Indian Ocean operating at above pre-Covid levels.
The airline will return to its pre-crisis frequencies to several African destinations, including two daily flights from Paris CDG to Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire.
Air France is also maintaining the majority of its network to Asia with a reduced number of flights, although frequencies to cities in India are being increased.
The airline added that it was continuing the policy of redeploying capacity on short and medium-haul routes to leisure-orientated destinations this summer. Air France will be flying to three new short-haul destinations from Paris CDG: Zakynthos, Tirana and Tenerife.
