OKLAHOMA CITY – Delta Air Lines has announced it will become the second airline to offer nonstop service from Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers World Airport to New York City beginning June 6.
The new nonstop service will operate once daily. The flight will depart Oklahoma City at 6:40 a.m. and arrive at LaGuardia Airport at 11:10 a.m. The return flight leaves LaGuardia at 8 p.m. and lands in Oklahoma City at 11 p.m. Flights can be booked now at Delta.com.
“This is great news for Oklahoma City,” said Jeff Mulder, airports director. “New York LaGuardia has been a much sought-after destination; one that will greatly enhance the air service options for our leisure and business travelers. We appreciate Delta’s commitment to our community.”
With the addition of New York LaGuardia, Delta’s nonstop destinations from WRWA include Atlanta, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City.
American Airlines began daily nonstop service to New York City on Nov. 2. The flight departs Oklahoma City at 7:30 a.m. and arrives at LaGuardia Airport at 11:50 a.m. The return flight leaves LaGuardia at 7 p.m. and lands in Oklahoma City at 9:45 p.m.
How has the service been received by travelers? A spokesman for American said he was unable to share customer data because it is competitive information.
Prior to November, no airline offered flights from Oklahoma City to New York City without a stop anywhere from Denver to Atlanta and Houston to Charlotte. Some layovers were as long as nine hours.
