IndiGo, the Indian airline operator, has announced new flights to enhance connectivity to Southeast Asia, with increased frequency to Singapore and Bangkok. The new flight schedule will come into effect from May 25, June 3 and June 4, 2023. The daily Delhi to Singapore route will start from May 25, while flights from Bhubaneswar to Singapore and back will be available on Tuesdays and Saturdays, starting from June 3. The Bangkok to Bhubaneswar flight will be available on the same days, while the return flight will be available on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting from June 4. Additionally, the Bangkok to Kolkata flight will also begin from June 3 and the Kolkata to Bangkok flight will start from June 4 on Wednesdays and Sundays. The new flights are expected to enhance connectivity and accessibility across Southeast Asia. However, the recent news of Go First’s insolvency could reduce capacity and potentially push airfares on certain routes. This has been a concern for travel agents’ grouping TAAI, as the industry has previously suffered losses due to the insolvencies of Kingfisher Airlines and Jet Airways.
