An IndiGo flight bound for Varanasi was forced to make an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad due to a technical issue. All 137 passengers on board were safe and were provided with an alternate aircraft to fly to their destination. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has ordered an inquiry into the incident. This incident comes after a Lucknow-bound AIX Connect plane from Bengaluru returned to the airport soon after taking off on March 10, also due to a technical issue. Over 1,090 incidents of technical snags have been reported in various aircraft during 2021-2023, according to government information. Technical snags can occur due to improper functioning or malfunctions of systems or equipment fitted on the aircraft.
