A Swedish man was arrested after allegedly molesting an air hostess on a Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight from Istanbul. The incident occurred on January 3, and the man was arrested upon landing in Mumbai. According to reports, the man also verbally abused co-passengers during the flight.
Following the incident, IndiGo released a statement condemning the action and stating that the airline has zero-tolerance towards such behaviour.
It is not the first time that a passenger has been arrested for allegedly molesting an air hostess. In October 2018, a passenger was arrested for allegedly molesting a Jet Airways air hostess on a Mumbai to Delhi flight.
Such incidents have raised serious concerns about the safety of female crew members on planes. Airline staff have been demanding a stricter policy to deal with such incidents, including harsher legal action against perpetrators.
India has recently taken steps to increase safety measures on board flights, including the creation of the National Civil Aviation Security Training Institute and the implementation of stricter punishment for unruly passengers.
However, the frequent occurrence of such incidents shows that more needs to be done to ensure the safety of crew members and passengers on flights. It is important for airlines and authorities to work together to implement effective measures to prevent such incidents from happening, and to provide a safe environment for everyone on board.
